ABOUT ME

Gregory Grindz, born on November 14, 1983, in Toronto and raised in Brampton, Ontario, is a seasoned audio engineer and producer with nearly three decades of experience. His early exposure to music came from his father, a DJ, which instilled in him a deep appreciation for rhythm and bass. Named after reggae legend Gregory Isaacs, music has been an integral part of his life since birth.
In his teenage years, Gregory began making beats in his mother’s basement, investing his earnings from a job at Business Depot into studio equipment. This initiative led him to record local talents, including Tory Lanez. Balancing a government job by day and studio sessions by night, he adopted the moniker "Gregory Grindz"—a name that reflects his relentless work ethic.
Eventually, Gregory left his government position to establish Grindz Recording Studio, which quickly became a cornerstone of Canada’s music scene. His studio attracted major industry players and led to collaborations with international artists such as Yxng Bane, Daniel Caesar, Isaiah Rashad, Dexta Daps, and Tory Lanez just to name a few. His work includes mixing and mastering tracks that have topped charts in the UK, Jamaica, and the US.
As demand for his services grew, he expanded his operation to a multi-room studio in Etobicoke, securing vendor deals with Warner and Universal. His expertise and dedication earned him back-to-back People's Choice Diamond Awards for Recording Studio of the Year, solidifying his reputation as one of Canada’s top engineers.
Inspired by his late mother’s encouragement to share his knowledge, Gregory is launching Grindz Sound Academy, a school dedicated to mixing, mastering, and vocal production. His legacy continues as he mentors the next generation of engineers and producers, ensuring that high-quality sound remains at the forefront of the industry.
